Does your XJ6 no longer have rear self leveling suspension?
Here is the procedure for removing the Hydraulic Ride Level Hose and Pump with a Block-Off Kit from Black Dog Manufacturing. This kit is used on cars that no longer have rear self leveling suspension.
- Drain hydraulic fluid reservoir. Be prepared to contain any residual fluid from hoses, valve body and pumps as you proceed.
- Remove and discard "Y" Hose.
- Remove and discard the Ride Level Low Pressure Return Hose from reservoir to Suspension Valve Block. Make note where this hose connected to the reservoir as you will be installing a plug on this port.
- Disconnect the Power Steering Return Hose from the reservoir making note of it's location for re-installation later on.
- Remove the reservoir. Thoroughly clean the reservoir port that was connected to the Ride Level Low Pressure Return Hose. Test fit and cut to appropriate length the supplied plug. Using a heat gun shrink onto the reservoir port.
- Re-install the reservoir and re-connect the Power Steering Return Hose to it's original port.
- Remove and discard the High pressure Hose from the Ride Level Pump to the Suspension Valve Block.
- Remove and discard the Ride Level Pump from the front of the engine and use the supplied Block-Off Plate to cover the hole. Your exisiting bolts may need to be cut down in length to secure the plate.
- Install the supplied Feed Hose on the Power Steering Pump and connect it to the reservoir port where the "Y" Hose was removed.
- Re-fill the reservoir with the appropriate amount of fluid and check all connections for leaks.
