Heres one reason why to replace your Air Suspension with a Range Rover Spring Kit.
An Air Spring Failure on a Busy Highway Created a Hazardous Ordeal for Brent and Cheri Moore.
The Moore's True Story
Brent and Cheri Moore were in the middle of a pleasant drive through Mississippi in their 1996 Range Rover 4.0. Enjoying their vacation, the Moores were about 150 (192 kilometers) miles from New Orleans. They were making good time, cruising along at about 70 mph (112 kph). Suddenly, something went wrong with their Rangie. The Moore's heard a beeping sound and saw their EAS fault light come on. All four air spring dash lights began flashing and they felt their vehicle sinking. The air springs gave out at 70 mph! Luckily, Brent managed to get the Range Rover to the side of the road without incident. Unluckily, the Range Rover's EAS had completely failed. With deflated air springs, the Range Rover was riding on its bump stops. Brent knew that bumping along the highway like a low rider would not only be dangerous and embarrassing but also potentially damaging to the vehicle. After a quick call to Mike Pigg, the Motorcars LTD Service Manager, Brent learned that his Range Rover had to be taken to a repair shop specially equipped with a diagnostic system. The closest one was in New Orleans. The Moores had no choice but to drive on their bump stops and risk damage to the vehicle. At a maximum speed of 35 mph (56 kph), it took 5 hours to get to New Orleans. After their harrowing ordeal and a long, tedious drive, Brent and Cheri received more bad news. The EAS suspension that caused them such a fright would now cost $2,000 (£1,090) to repair! Needless to say, the Moore's vacation did not end as they had planned.
The Moore's Problem is a Common One
The Moore's experienced first hand the kinds of EAS problems that Range Rover owners face. Their case is not unique; EAS failures are quite common. An EAS failure is a real fear and an expensive problem faced by Range Rover owners.
While EAS failures are not all as frightful an experience as the Moore's, they can still be very problematic. The Electronic Air Suspension in Range Rovers is comprised of many different parts. Many of these are integral parts of the EAS system, so a failure in any one of them results in a complete EAS failure. Moreover, EAS parts are expensive, so EAS repair costs are high. And worst of all, an EAS repair can not guarantee that the EAS will not fail again in the future. Multiple EAS repairs can become extremely tedious and expensive. Read more about these EAS problems.
The Moore's Solution
The Moore's opted to install a Spring Conversion Kit instead of repairing their EAS. Not only did the Spring Conversion Kit save them money, it guaranteed that their next vacation would not suddenly end with a frightening experience and expensive repair bill from EAS problems. In fact, many Range Rover owners have realized the benefits of a Spring Conversion and have replaced their air springs with reliable steel.
Spring Conversion Kits are available for both Classic Range Rovers and New Shape Range Rovers. In the following pages, you will learn all about EAS problems, read real testimonials from Range Rover owners who have purchased and installed a Spring Conversion Kit, and answer any questions you have about Spring Kits.
